At the root of all educational success is literacy. With reading, writing, speaking, listening, critical thinking, digital literacy, and more falling under the umbrella of literacy, mostly all pathways in education, professional spheres, and life, require strong literacy skills that are applicable across settings and tasks. We believe that all students are capable of achieving levels of literacy that will unlock new opportunities and choices at each stage of their educational development.
Literacy begins with spoken language; once students have a strong phonemic base, they can begin working with print. After mastering the foundational concepts of phonemic awareness and phonics, they are ready to apply their reading to more challenging tasks that require close reading, critical thinking, and written responses. At each step of the way, our expert educators can support your student through challenges with new concepts as well as enrich those educational experiences that leave room for advanced study.
Our approach towards mathematical instruction is also grounded in literacy, particularly related to fluency with number sense. From the earliest foundations to the highest levels of secondary math, students thrive when they have automaticity with fact fluency, clear knowledge of math vocabulary, and strategies for accurate computational work. The intersection of these skills allows for strong logical reasoning and mathematical problem solving.
